Andreas Abegg (Chairman)

Andreas Abegg has become member of the ENSI Board on 1 September 2019.  The Federal Council has appointed Andreas Abegg as the new Chair of the ENSI Board effective 1 November 2020.

He is Professor of Public Commercial Law at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in Winterthur and Adjunct Professor at the University of Lucerne. At the ZHAW, he has been Head of the Centre for Public Commercial Law since 2012, focusing on research in the areas of public enterprises and energy. He is also proprietor of AAK Attorneys and Consultants, a law firm specializing in public sector mandates.

After completing an industrial business apprenticeship, Andreas Abegg obtained a cantonal adult education diploma in Zurich and studied law at the universities in Fribourg in Üechtland (lic. iur.) and Frankfurt am Main (LL.M.). He wrote his doctorate and conducted postdoctoral research on the interface of state and society. Research stays led him to Frankfurt am Main (2003-2005) and the U.S. (Berkeley and Ann Arbor, Michigan 2006-07). At the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main he held the Chair for Public Law and Media Law (2009/10).
