Oskar Grözinger

Oskar Grözinger has been a member of the ENSI Board since 1 January 2012.

In 2012 and 2013 he took part in the EU stress tests to assess safety standards in European nuclear power plants as the head of the review committees for nuclear plants in the Netherlands, Slovakia and Spain amongst others. He also led a corresponding review of nuclear plants in Taiwan on behalf of the European Commission in 2013.

Previously, he was employed exclusively by the State of Baden-Württemberg, primarily in the Ministry responsible for nuclear licensing and supervision.

Between 2005 and 2011, Oskar was Head of the Nuclear Energy Supervision and Radiation Protection Department in the Ministry of the Environment, where he was responsible for monitoring nuclear operations and decommissioning (including licensing procedures) for nuclear plants in Baden-Württemberg. During his term of office, the authority was inspected by international IAEA experts under the auspices of the Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) in 2008 and 2011, with good results.

Previously, Oskar worked in the Ministry of the Environment between 2001 and 2005 as Head of the Immission Protection Department and Deputy Head of the Industry and Business Department. Between 1996 and 2001, he was Head of the Waste Management and Decommissioning Department. Between 1990 and 1996, he was Head of the Air, Radiation Protection, Noise and Occupational Safety Department at the State Environmental Protection Institute in Karlsruhe.

After studying physics and obtaining his doctorate in natural sciences, he started his career as Rapporteur for Research and Experimental Reactors until 1981, then worked from 1981 until 1989 as Rapporteur and Project Manager for construction, commissioning and subsequent operation of the Neckarwestheim II Nuclear Power Plant.
